  1. Group clothes using trash bags

When packing the clothes in your closet, you don’t need to take every article of clothing down, fold them and pack them in boxes. This can take some time and takes away boxes that could have been used for a better purpose such as for dishes or cleaning supplies. A simple solution to this is to utilize trash bags. How can these help? Simply, bag the clothes from the bottom up, while the clothes are still hanging, pull to the top, then tie the strings around the hangers. 10-15 articles of clothing have now been grouped into one! The bag also offers protection from spills or anything else that could potentially stain or damage the fabric. Continue grouping articles of clothes until you finish your entire collection. Once you reach your new home, simply hang the grouped clothes in the closet, then remove the bag. Easy!

Styrofoam plates are a perfect pair for ceramic plates because they are able to protect them while in the process of moving. Save your ceramic plates by stacking them with a styrofoam plate in between each plate. The styrofoam plates act as shock absorbers, protecting your ceramic plates from potential damage. Pick up a pack of styrofoams plates from the dollar store and be sure to utilize them in your moving process!

Finding boxes when moving can be a hassle. They can be a bit pricey and trying to locate free boxes can be draining. An easy solution to this is renting reusable moving boxes from a moving company. These moving boxes are a great alternative to traditional cardboard boxes because they are reusable, making them a great way to help combat pollution and waste. They are made of durable plastic that is stackable, making your moving process more secure and an easier process. A good place to rent boxes is from U-Haul. This company offers these eco-friendly boxes that are 20 x 24 x 12 in size. Renters are also able to grab as many boxes as they see fit for their move. This is a great service that all movers should utilize!

  1. Downsize

Being that many despise moving, their goal surely would be to pack as least as possible, right? Oddly, these people believe if they can shove all of their belongings in the least amount of boxes, then the moving process will be less stressful. The issue with this logic is that you run a greater risk of boxes breaking mid move, delicate items in the boxes being broken and not being able to locate needed items for various areas of the new home when unpacking. If you make the packing process simple, everything else will follow suit. The most efficient way to achieve this is by simply having less items that need to be packed. This is done by downsizing. In the process of downsizing, it is vital that you really take into consideration if an item is truly needed. You may have it in your home now, but was it truly needed in the first place? Getting rid of these items will ensure that you are not wasting energy packing unnecessary items and also that your new space isn’t being filled with clutter from day one. Filtering through what’s truly needed and what’s not before you start packing things in boxes will make the moving process a breeze.

  1. Follow a moving schedule

If you are unsure of where to start when moving, a great way to get started is by following a moving schedule. A great place to find one that suits your needs is on Pinterest. On this site, you can find a variety of moving schedules. These schedules will walk you step-by-step though the moving process, ensuring that you are meeting all the recommended moving requirements so that your move can be quick, easy, stress-free and simple. If you are unable to find a good list, sit yourself down about a month or so before moving and make your own plan. The main objective is to keep it simple and organized. On your list, ensure that you jot down things such as which moving company you may be renting a truck from and the fee, an estimate of how many boxes you may need and where to pick them up, things you need to throw away, etc. Another helpful way to plan out a move is by filling out a monthly calendar. Every day until the official moving day, do small things that will help prepare you for your move. For example, choose a day to clean and declutter one area of the home. Planning these things out and following a schedule will ensure that you have an easy move.
